Those of you who have hunted with the Korkow family may have had your picture taken on “MAGEE.”
Tom and Magee (his wife) came up from Oklahoma each summer back in the late 1950s and early 1960s and custom combined for our dad and several neighboring farmers. At the end of one season, Tom told Dad that he was done coming north. Dad purchased both the truck and Tom’s combine. Jim ran it for the next few years, and then it simply sat.
The anchor on Magee came from John Crowley of Alfred, Maine. John loaded it onto a U-Haul trailer, and out it came to South Dakota. Jim made the “K” from an old grain auger.
And that is the short story of “MAGEE.”
We are dry, but not in trouble. We’re staying busy getting things ready for this fall’s pheasant hunting season, along with all the work that comes with running a ranch—no different than the jobs many of you tackle every day.
If you’re still considering a pheasant hunt this fall and haven’t booked yet, shoot me an email.
SEE YOU THIS FALL!
